Well, learning a language is unfortunately a long term thing. Think about it, you are constantly learning English. Whether it be words, or sentence grammar, English is still hard to process.
Now, as far as learning a foreign language, it depends on the proficiency that you want to have. If you want to know basic words and make basic sentences, you should be on your way, if you try, in a couple of months. (3-5)
The best way to learn a language is surround yourself with speakers of that language.

These are great websites that can REALLY help your Spanish. Also, you may want to buy a little handy dictionary and a little Spanish book. If you do this, you’ll be speaking Spanish sooner than you know.
