Important Reasons to Learn Spanish

It is easy to understand the merits and demerits of different ways of learning Spanish either online or in the comforts of your home. Having read all this, you must be wondering if taking a conversational Spanish course is really worth it. However, there are many good reasons you must learn Spanish. A huge section of the American population comprises Spanish speakers who have arrived here from different Spanish-speaking countries. You will encounter them everywhere, and in order to understand them, you must know at least the rudiments of Spanish. For example, consider the following scenarios.
You are a sales associate for a store. A Spanish-speaking customer walks up to you with a product and asks something. That question could have been anything. For example: Is this product safe? Or? What colors and sizes is this available in? It depends on the product of course, but either way you will need to know what she is saying or you will be of no help to her at all.
You are sitting at a restaurant and a beautiful girl comes up to you. She says: Me llamo Maria. Como Te llamas? Do you know what she just said to you? Do you know how to respond? Well, this one I’ll give a little help with just in case so you don’t get completely blown off by not knowing. What she said is my name is Maria. What is your name? Your response would obviously be me llamo (name). Of course I gave you the correct translation and response, but if you do not know Spanish I just as easily could have told you something that would get your face slapped.
As a sales associate, you must learn Spanish to converse efficiently with your Spanish-speaking customers. A customer might ask you a question about a product in Spanish. He/she might want to know about the various colors and sizes a particular product is available in or about its safety. Your knowledge of various products might be impeccable, but if you are unable to understand the customers’ language, you will not be able to help them.
Before visiting a Spanish speaking country for tropical vacation, business trip, exchange program, or mission trip, it would help if you learned some conversational Spanish. Of course, people do speak English even in Spanish-speaking countries, but they are more comfortable conversing in their primary language, Spanish, after all, you are in their country. You will be doing yourself and them a great favor if you learn at least some conversational Spanish. Otherwise, you might see plenty of Spanish speakers trying to help you, give you directions, or just offer some advice like “No vaya alla, no es seguro.” Would you understand what they are saying to you? It means “Don’t go there, it is not safe”! You wouldn’t want this to happen, would you?
You are now fully aware of the importance of learning how to speak Spanish. I have placed before you only a handful of situations. You will find yourself in myriad situations where you will wish you knew a little Spanish. In the United States, this language is gaining more and more importance. In fact, it has become just as prominent as English. So, you must know both English and Spanish. Taking an online Spanish course or ordering a home study course in Spanish is, therefore, the wisest option for you.
